Motel life

As a muddy, back-breaking job attracting young, restless, and hard-partying workers, treeplanters tend not to have the best reputations among those in the lodging industry. Some motels prohibit planters from renting rooms altogether, and as a result, the accommodation available tends to be far from luxurious. This photo series, shot mostly on film, documents the life of tree-planters outside of work hours, including photos from the infamous annual Tree-Planter’s Ball in Merritt, BC.
